LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending STRIDE Adaptive Sports upon the occa-
sion of hosting its 10th Annual Wounded Warrior Snowfest, March 5-8,
2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions that devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
STRIDE Adaptive Sports upon the occasion of hosting its 10th Annual
Wounded Warrior Snowfest to be held from March 5-8, 2015; and
WHEREAS, A positive recreation experience can restore the mind, body,
and soul and is a force in the rehabilitation process; STRIDE Adaptive
Sports has partnered with the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project to
sponsor the event; and
WHEREAS, A Welcome Banquet will be held for the guest Warriors and 350
members of the community on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Hilton Garden
Inn, Troy, New York, with Congressman Chris Gibson serving as Keynote
Speaker; and
WHEREAS, With the support of STRIDE's adaptive equipment and teaching
methods, the Warriors and their families will enjoy two days of skiing
and snowboarding at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, Hancock, Massachusetts;
and
WHEREAS, For its 10th anniversary, 15 alumni Warriors will reunite and
join 15 new Wounded Warrior participants to celebrate the progress and
triumphs made possible through STRIDE's therapeutic Wounded Warrior
programs; and
WHEREAS, For over 29 years, STRIDE Adaptive Sports has been dedicated
to enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities through recre-
ational and athletic activities; throughout its 10 years of service to
Wounded Warriors, this vital organization has transformed the lives of
veterans through a variety of adaptive sports activities, a supportive
community, and an innovative mentoring program which pairs recently
injured veterans with youths who have similar disabilities; and
WHEREAS, STRIDE Adaptive Sports stands behind its mission that no one
should be left behind because of a disability; it is possible to remove
boundaries, fulfill dreams, enhance self-esteem, and empower youth with
disabilities through participation in sport and fun activities; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend STRIDE Adaptive Sports upon the occasion of hosting its 10th
Annual Wounded Warrior Snowfest, March 5-8, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to STRIDE Adaptive Sports and the Wounded Warrior Snowfest Event
Committee.
