LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Honorable Jeffrey G. Berry upon
the occasion of his retirement after 31 years of distinguished service
to the citizens of Orange County, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful lives
and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of the
citizens of their community and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Orange County commu-
nity has been ably served and uniquely enriched through the selfless
dedication and benevolent concern of Judge Jeffrey G. Berry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Honor-
able Jeffrey G. Berry upon the occasion of his retirement after 31 years
of distinguished service to the citizens of Orange County, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey G. Berry is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and the
University of Tulsa School of Law; after obtaining his Juris Doctor, he
served as Law Clerk to The Honorable Paul F. Murphy of the Orange County
Family Court; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, Jeffrey G. Berry became Judge of the Newburgh City
Court where he rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to
the people of the Newburgh community for six years; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant was elected to the Orange County
Court in 1991, where he ably served until 2010, before gaining re-elec-
tion to an additional term from 2011 to 2020; and
WHEREAS, In June of 2000, Judge Jeffrey G. Berry was appointed by the
Chief Administrative Judge as Acting Justice of the Supreme Court,
Orange County; he was also appointed as the Supervising Judge, City
Courts, Ninth Judicial District in 2006; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious tenure serving the people of Orange
County, Judge Jeffrey G. Berry was governed by a keen sense of duty and
always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, Throughout a life and career of purposeful endeavor, Judge
Jeffrey G. Berry has remained true to his commitment, serving family,
faith and community, as well as the law; his contributions and accom-
plishments have brought great benefit and positive influence to bear
upon the course of jurisprudence and the quality of life for others; and
WHEREAS, Firm in his commitment over 31 years, Judge Jeffrey G. Berry
has remained dedicated to the betterment and progress of the Orange
County community; and
WHEREAS, Judge Jeffrey G. Berry, in every capacity in which he served,
has left his permanent mark on the criminal justice community and will
forever be remembered as a determined, innovative and genuinely
concerned expert in his field; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Judge Jeffrey G. Berry upon the occasion of his retirement after
31 years of distinguished service to the citizens of Orange County, New
York, and to extend its sincere gratitude for his contribution to the
people of New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Jeffrey G. Berry.
