LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jacqueline Murphy upon the occa-
sion of being selected as a member of the Albany 2015 Tulip Queen Court
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Jacqueline Murphy upon the occasion of being selected as a member
of the Albany 2015 Tulip Queen Court celebrated at a ceremony at the
67th Annual Albany Tulip Festival on Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Tulip Queen serves as Albany's Ambassador for one full
year of reign; she and her court will spend the year involved in volun-
teer service projects, including the Mayor's Literacy Campaign, which
strives to promote the value of reading to children; and
WHEREAS, The Tulip Queen and Court have teamed up with the Community
Foundation for the Greater Capital Region to create a trust fund for
future Tulip Queens and Courts to award grants to local literacy organ-
izations; each Queen and Court develops initiatives to further their
goals and attends numerous events throughout the year focusing on educa-
tion and community awareness; and
WHEREAS, An Albany native, Jacqueline Murphy is a 2014 graduate of
Hobart and William Smith Colleges; and
WHEREAS, Currently, this esteemed young woman is working toward
finishing her clinical experience hours in hopes of continuing on to a
Physicians Assistant graduate program; and
WHEREAS, In her role as a member of the 2015 Albany Tulip Queen Court,
Jacqueline Murphy looks forward to conducting numerous service activ-
ities, as well as starting educational programs which create awareness
of bullying and teach young children about making positive life choices;
and
WHEREAS, Jacqueline Murphy has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she has volunteered for the Special Olym-
pics Basketball Clinic, Geneva Living Center, Geneva YMCA, and the
Happiness House; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jacqueline Murphy has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
young woman now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and
parents; and
WHEREAS, Jacqueline Murphy represents the potential which is inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring honor
to her family and her community through her many achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jacqueline Murphy upon the occasion of being selected as a
member of the Albany 2015 Tulip Queen Court, and to wish her success in
all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jacqueline Murphy.
