LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Alice Long upon the occasion of
celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Alice Long upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Alice Long was born on June 3, 1915, in Falconer, New York;
and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the greater Jamestown area, Alice Long
first lived in Falconer, New York, and now resides in Frewsburg, New
York; and
WHEREAS, At the remarkable age of 100, Alice Long continues to main-
tain her independence, and is still able to drive her car and manage her
own finances; and
WHEREAS, Alice Long attributes her longevity to decades of frequent
dining at her favorite restaurant, AJ's Texas Hots in Jamestown, New
York, where she is well-known and her company is enjoyed; according to
restaurant owner Michael Riolo, she has been the restaurant's most
prolific patron since they opened in the mid-1970s; and
WHEREAS, Described as the sweetest woman you could ever meet, Alice
Long was treated to a surprise birthday party, thrown for her by her
friends at AJ's Texas Hots; her extended family members and two friends
from the Frewsburg Rest Home joined her to celebrate this momentous
occasion; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments, and awesome achievements of this country during the last
century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Alice Long upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alice Long.
