LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Foresto
Men's Shop & Tuxedo, in Mineola, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this. Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those businesses which substantially contribute to the
economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 75th Anniversary of Foresto Men's Shop & Tuxedo, in Mineola,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Foresto Men's Shop was established in 1940, by Michael and
Nancy Foresto; the business humbly began by purchasing a few suits at a
time and selling them to people they knew; and
WHEREAS, In the 1950s, Foresto Men's Shop added the tuxedo component,
consisting of an old-fashioned black tuxedo, much different from the
colorful styles available today; and
WHEREAS, Michael and Nancy Foresto and their son, Dominick, lived in
the apartment above the store, and subsequently, he learned the differ-
ent aspects of the business from his hard-working parents; and
WHEREAS, Dominick Foresto has worked in the family's shop his entire
life, mastering the men's fashion industry, while helping men improve
their wardrobe; today, Dominick Foresto and his wife, Paula own the
family business; and
WHEREAS, Although Foresto Men's Shop & Tuxedo continues to service
their long-time customers, the evolution of the Internet has compelled
Dominick and Paula Foresto to update their approach to marketing, and
drawing in new customers; and
WHEREAS, After more than seven decades, Foresto Men's Shop & Tuxedo
continues to provide the highest quality men's wear, along with great
service since its inception; and
WHEREAS, Foresto Men's Shop & Tuxedo was voted Best Pick 2013 by the
bridal website The Knot and LlWeddings.com; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the economic
health and vitality of the communities they serve; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Foresto Men's Shop & Tuxedo, in
Mineola, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dominick and Paula Foresto.
