LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Skelly upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Salem Rotary Club

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert Skelly has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Skelly
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Salem Rotary Club; this momentous occasion was celebrated at its Annual
Citizen of the Year Awards Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Robert Skelly has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A member and Salutatorian of this year's Salem Washington
Academy senior class, Robert Skelly was chosen for this most auspicious
honor for his steadfast participation in school and community activ-
ities; and
WHEREAS, Robert Skelly was a member of the varsity soccer, baseball
and weight lifting teams, as well as literary, drama and film clubs; he
has volunteered his time for the Courthouse Community Center, Books on
Hands Program, and the Borador Animal Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this exemplary student was a member of Salem's
winning Mock Trial Team; he is also the proud recipient of the Frederick
Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award and the Student Sage Award for his
academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, Robert Skelly plans to attend SUNY Adirondack and transfer to
Cornell University where he will study veterinary science; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert Skelly has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert Skelly has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Skelly upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Salem Rotary Club; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Skelly.
