LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Robert R. Dyson upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by Legal Services of the Hudson
Valley on October 8, 2015

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Robert R. Dyson upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, to be celebrated at its
Dutchess Partners in Justice Reception on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at
the Alumnae House at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, True to its mission, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley
provides free, high quality counsel in civil matters for individuals and
families who cannot afford to pay an attorney where basic human needs
are at stake; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization is the only provider of comprehensive
civil legal services to all seven counties of the Hudson Valley includ-
ing Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sulli-
van; and
WHEREAS, Robert R. Dyson earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics
from Marietta College, Ohio, and then received his MBA from the Johnson
School of Business at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York; and
WHEREAS, On April 19, 2007, Robert R. Dyson was inducted into the
Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management Hall of Honor, the
highest form of recognition rendered by the Dean in the name of the
Johnson community; and
WHEREAS Currently, Robert R. Dyson holds the position of both Chairman
and CEO of The Dyson-Kissner-Moran Corporation, a privately owned,
diversified holding company which was founded by his father, Charles H.
Dyson, in 1954; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Robert R. Dyson owns and manages a diverse array of
private investments, and was the founder and owner of a regional radio
broadcasting group of radio stations in the Hudson Valley of Upstate New
York; and
WHEREAS, The role of a community leader is one which comes naturally
to Robert R. Dyson; currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Marist College, a life member of the Board of Trustees of
Cornell University, and a member of the Board of Directors of Health
Quest Systems, Inc., the parent board of both Vassar Brothers Medical
Center and Northern Dutchess Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Since 2000, Robert R. Dyson has held the esteemed title of
President of the Dyson Foundation; in a regional level, the Foundation
supports a diverse array of organizations throughout the Mid-Hudson
Valley of Upstate New York from the colleges and hospitals, to community
centers and arts programs; nationally, the Foundation is involved in
making grants primarily training in community pediatrics; and
WHEREAS, Yet another interest and passion of Robert R. Dyson's is
Dyson Racing, one of the top-rated sports car racing teams in the coun-
try; Dyson Racing has won almost all of the major professional Interna-
tional Motor Sports Association's sanctioned races in the country, and
has twice garnered overall wins in the prestigious Daytona 24 Hour
competition; today, Robert continues to drive for his team; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Emilie, and their two
children, Christopher and Molly, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Robert R. Dyson upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley on October 8, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert R. Dyson.
