LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Edward Mark Boudreau,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau of Waterloo, New York, died on Saturday,
January 31, 2015 at the age of 87; and
WHEREAS, Born in Hyde Park, New York, on April 3, 1927, Edward Mark
Boudreau graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944 and embarked on a
life which was marked by public service to his country and community;
and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau honorably served his country as a member
of the United States Navy during the Second World War and was a deco-
rated veteran of the war against the imperial forces of Japan in the
Pacific Theater; and
WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Edward Mark
Boudreau graduated from Oswego State College in 1951, during which time
he lettered in basketball all four years; while student teaching in the
Waterloo School District, he was offered and accepted a permanent posi-
tion as a social studies teacher and coach in the district; and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, A steadfast supporter of all types of athletics, Edward Mark
Boudreau was instrumental in the establishment of the Waterloo Varsity
Club in 1954, helping to create the Waterloo Sports Hall of Fame, and
serving as a Section V Football official for many years; he was inducted
into the Waterloo Sports Hall of Fame in 1996; and
WHEREAS, After earning his Certification in Administration, Edward
Mark Boudreau became the guidance counselor at the Waterloo Junior High
School in 1964; just one year later he became the Junior High Principal
and served in that capacity until 1984, at which time he became the
Principal of Waterloo High School, the esteemed position he held until
his retirement in 1989; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious tenure in the Waterloo School
District, Edward Mark Boudreau encouraged and promoted several programs
including enrichment, foreign languages, reading and community involve-
ment in the curriculum; and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau's commitment to excellence and his spir-
it of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community, Edward Mark Boudreau served on
several boards of directors and committees including: President of the
Waterloo Rotary Club, Seneca County Red Cross, Seneca County United Way,
Section V High School Athletics, Waterloo Little League, Geneva American
Legion and Goulds Pumps Scholarship Committee; and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau served for 12 years on the Seneca County
Board of Supervisors where he was elected to six terms as the Town of
Waterloo Supervisor, during which time he also chaired or served on
various committees including the County Personnel Committee, the Commit-
tee on Veteran Affairs and the Seneca County Soil and Water Conservation
Committee; and
WHEREAS, A member of Seneca Falls Country Club for more than 40 years,
Edward Mark Boudreau cherished the time he spent there with his friends
and family; he was also a devoted member and communicant of Saint Mary's
Church in Waterloo for over six decades; and
WHEREAS, Edward Mark Boudreau loved spending time with his children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he traveled far and wide to watch
them participate in sporting events and cultural activities and truly
adored them; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Mark and Alma, his son, Mark and
his sister, Annie Lou, Edward Mark Boudreau is survived by his devoted
wife of 62 years, Cecelia; his sister, Irene; two daughters, Deborah
(Louis) and Joan; one son, Edward (Jill); a daughter-in-law, Vicky; 10
grandchildren, Louis (Lindsay), Lisa (Patrick), Laura (Zack), Sean,
Julia, Elizabeth (Mike), Jessica (Patrick), Taylor, Jacqueline and
Emily; and seven great-grandchildren, Miabella, Alessandra, Louis III,
Lucas, Miles, Tate and Luciana; as well as several nieces and nephews;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Edward Mark Boudreau
leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and
will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Edward Mark Boudreau, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Edward Mark Boudreau.
