LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Gosstola upon the occasion of
her retirement after more than 35 years of dedicated service to the New
York State Legislature and the Legislative Messenger Service

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor individuals
who have faithfully served the people and the government of the State of
New York with dedication and conscientious service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara
Gosstola upon the occasion of her retirement after more than 35 years of
dedicated service to the New York State Legislature and the Legislative
Messenger Service; a party was held in her honor on Wednesday, January
21, 2015; she officially retired on December 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Born in Albany and raised in Voorheesville, New York, Barbara
Gosstola is a graduate of Voorheesville High School; and
WHEREAS, The Legislative Messenger Service plays a very important part
in expediting the work of the New York State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, On September 17, 1979, Barbara Gosstola began her career with
the Legislative Messenger Service; over the years, she has enjoyed
delivering mail, meeting people and making friends; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Barbara Gosstola has had the good fortune of
getting to know many Senators and Assembly members, and their staff; she
is well-known throughout the Legislature for her kind and compassionate
nature, as well as for taking a genuine interest in the well-being of
her colleagues and their family members; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Gosstola's thoughtfulness extends with her tradition
of sending cards to her many friends, offering birthday wishes, get well
soon, thinking of you and even sympathy; in retirement, she will fondly
remember the special relationships she built over the years with the
many friends she made during her 35 years with the Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Barbara Gosstola is the proud sister
of David and Donna, and the loving aunt of Zachary, John, Nick, and
Morgan, all of whom feel honored to be a part of her life and rejoice in
her achievements; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, Barbara Gosstola has plans to enroll in craft-
ing classes, and to give back to her community by volunteering her time;
she will be dearly missed by all those who have had the pleasure of
befriending her throughout her esteemed career; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Gosstola, as a member of the Legislative Messenger
Service, embodies the true American spirit, demonstrating personal
determination and significantly contributing to the workings of the New
York State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Gosstola upon the occasion of her retirement after more
than 35 years of dedicated service to the New York State Legislature and
the Legislative Messenger Service, and to wish her well in all her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Gosstola.
