LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration
Corporation upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Benefit, Restore
Brooklyn, on October 22, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Benefit, Restore Brooklyn, on Thursday, October 22,
2015, at the Four Seasons Restaurant, New York City; and
WHEREAS, The Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation is a historic
organization whose mission and programming remain increasingly relevant
in today's rapidly changing times; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1967, the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration
Corporation is the nation's first community development corporation and
has attracted substantial investments to the Central Brooklyn area; and
WHEREAS, The Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation partners with
residents and business to improve the quality of life of Central Brook-
lyn by fostering economic self-sufficiency, enhancing family stability,
promoting arts and culture, and transforming the neighborhood into a
safe, vibrant place to live, work and visit; and
WHEREAS, While Brooklyn's revitalized neighborhoods exhibit increasing
vibrancy, the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation continues to
work to ensure residents of all incomes have access to resources to
strengthen their overall well-being; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 48 year history, the Bedford Stuyves-
ant Restoration Corporation has demonstrated continuous service to the
residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation
is in direct correlation to the efforts of its staff and members, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the commu-
nity it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Bedford Stuyvesant
Restoration Corporation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation upon the occasion
of hosting its Annual Benefit, Restore Brooklyn, on October 22, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
