LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the students from the Sullivan
County BOCES Career and Technical Education Program's Health Team upon
the occasion of capturing First Place in the Health Knowledge Bowl
Competition at the Annual New York State SkillsUSA Spring Conference in
April of 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their school and community by achieving
outstanding success in educational competition; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the students from the Sullivan County BOCES Career and Technical
Education Program's Health Team upon the occasion of capturing First
Place in the Health Knowledge Bowl Competition at the Annual New York
State SkillsUSA Spring Conference in April of 2015; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding members of the award winning Sullivan County
BOCES Health Team include Mandilyn Lounsbury, Liberty Central School
District; Carly Leventoff, Fallsburg Central School District; Heather
Mustavs, Roscoe Central School District; Joseph McDoal, Roscoe Central
School District, and alternate member, Alyssa Vilela, Monticello Central
School District; and
WHEREAS, These remarkable students practiced their skills regularly
and learned over 150 medical concepts to ensure their success against
the other 24 teams in the SkillsUSA Competition; and
WHEREAS, While at this auspicious competition, students from across
New York State competed in various categories testing their vocational
knowledge and skills; in addition, the competitors were judged on both
their resume and professional appearance; and
WHEREAS, The Sullivan County BOCES Health Team's win in the Health
Knowledge Bowl qualifies them to participate in the National SkillsUSA
Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 22-26, 2015; and
WHEREAS, SkillsUSA is a national vocational club which places an
emphasis on fostering leadership skills, and offers students the oppor-
tunity to work together to accomplish goals; students routinely attend
and run meetings where they develop projects which will help them learn
how to excel as future leaders in the business world; and
WHEREAS, Students learn the value of community service, developing
projects which will help enhance their neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry
working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce; and
WHEREAS, Young men and women of singular distinction and superlative
ability, the members of the Sullivan County BOCES Health Team have
established a high standard of academic excellence and purposefulness of
life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
dedicated students now stand honorably, with just pride in their accom-
plishments, and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understand-
ing and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by their
teachers, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the students from the Sullivan County BOCES Career and
Technical Education Program's Health Team upon the occasion of capturing
First Place in the Health Knowledge Bowl Competition at the Annual New
York State SkillsUSA Spring Conference in April of 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members from the Sullivan County BOCES Career and Techni-
cal Education Program's Health Team.
