LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dr. Benedict F. Gullo upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Mr. Canandaigua
Award by the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations and
individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Dr. Benedict F. Gullo upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2015 Mr. Canandaigua Award by the Canandaigua Chamber
of Commerce, to be celebrated at the Chamber's 105th Annual Dinner and
Membership Meeting, on Friday, January 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Each year the Chamber of Commerce honors a citizen for
outstanding service to the residents of Canandaigua; candidates for this
award have demonstrated service to the greater community or its people,
over and above what can be expected of one person, in the course of
everyday living, without or with very little compensation; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Benedict F. "Ben" Gullo was born on April 9, 1943, to
Jane and Frank Gullo; he was raised in Perry, New York, and attended
Perry Elementary and High School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. "Ben" Gullo was on the Perry Champion Football Team and
the Basketball Team, and was President of the student body his senior
year, as well as an Officer of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Dr. "Ben" Gullo attended St. Bonaventure
University and graduated in 1965, with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Biology; he also studied at the University of Buffalo from 1965-1967,
and merited a Master's degree in Biology; and
WHEREAS, Dr. "Ben" Gullo married his wife, Sharon Carr, on August 16,
1969, and together they served our Nation as members of the United
States Navy; and
WHEREAS, In 1971, Dr. "Ben" Gullo graduated from the University of
Buffalo Dental School, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree; in
1972, he joined Dave Westbrook's Dental Practice, where he happily still
works today; and
WHEREAS, Committed to the community he so ably assists, Dr. "Ben"
Gullo has served as President of Rotary International, International
Dental Club, Merrill Hose Fire Company, and as a past Library Board
Member; in 1990 and 2013, he received a Paul Harris Fellow Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. "Ben" Gullo is an active member of Rotary International;
he has hosted 10 Foreign Exchange Students and currently serves on the
Christmas Day Dinner Clean-up Committee; and
WHEREAS, Today, Dr. "Ben" Gullo is the Chairman of 4-Way Test, and
faithfully attends the United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Dr. "Ben" Gullo proudly uses his skills to help those less
fortunate; he went on a Mission Trip to the Amazon, and gives free
dental care to participants of Churches in Action Program in the Canan-
daigua area, as well as donated mouth guards to the Canandaigua Girl's
Lacrosse Team; and
WHEREAS, A lover of the great outdoors and the arts, Dr. "Ben" Gullo
is a supporting member of Sonnenberg Gardens and Granger Homestead, and
teaches veterans how to fly fish; he was also a supporting patron of
Seneca Indian Sculpture; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, with him throughout have been his
two sons, Gregory F. Gullo and Francis B. Gullo; and three daughters,
Sarah J. Andreacchi, Courtney J. Gullo, and Jane E. Gullo, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Benedict F. Gullo has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dr. Benedict F. Gullo upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the 2015 Mr. Canandaigua Award by the Canandaigua Cham-
ber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Benedict F. Gullo.
