LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating St. Peter's Community Arts Academy
upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Non-Profit
Business of the Year Award by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
congratulate St. Peter's Community Arts Academy upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2014 Non-Profit Business of the Year
Award by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its
112th Annual Dinner at Club 86, Geneva, New York, on Thursday, January
29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Beginning in 1987, with a Community Choir and 10 members, the
St. Peter's Community Arts Program has grown to comprise of more than
200 students participating in private and group lessons each week; it
was in 2005 when the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy was officially
established; and
WHEREAS, Today, the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy continues to
grow; the Academy has seen an increase in the number of participants in
their Community Choir, Piano Studio, and String Studio, and in 2012, the
Arts Academy added Kindermusik as well as a Dance Studio in 2013; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy is to
provide quality instruction in music and the arts to students of all
ages and level of skill, regardless of financial means or religious
affiliation; last year, the Academy provided scholarships to 33
students; and
WHEREAS, Arts are essential for personal growth, education, and
strengthening of community; in 2013, approximately 60 volunteers
provided over 800 hours of time and talent to the St. Peter's Community
Arts Academy; and
WHEREAS, St. Peter's Community Arts Academy benefits from the growing
emphasis on the arts and, in turn, contributes to the arts, culture,
activities, and events throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of St.
Peter's Community Arts Academy for providing an exceptional experience
in music and dance that has the potential to transform lives; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate St. Peter's Community Arts Academy upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2014 Non-Profit Business of the Year
Award by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to St. Peter's Community Arts Academy.
