LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda S. Muller upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Trowell-Harris Leadership Mentor Award
on February 7, 2015
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Linda S. Muller has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Linda Muller
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Trowell-Harris
Leadership Mentor Award, to be observed at its 17th Annual Tuition
Assistance Awards Celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, President and CEO of the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health
Center (GHVFHC), Linda S. Muller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from
SUNY Buffalo, and a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Admin-
istration from the New School University in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Linda S. Muller began her illustrious career with the Greater
Hudson Valley Family Health Center in 1991; with the belief that health
care is a right, not a privilege, she has been a steadfast advocate for
the 21,000 patients who call GHVFHC their medical home; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Linda S. Muller has been instrumental
in the tremendous growth of the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health
Center; most recently, the organization has become accredited by the
Joint Commission for delivering high standards of care and is designated
by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Level 3
Patient Centered Medical Home; and
WHEREAS, Linda S. Muller is a highly regarded and respected leader in
the healthcare community; she was honored by the United States Depart-
ment of Health and Human Services, New York HRSA Field Office for her
commitment and distinguished service to improving the health status of
the medically underserved; and
WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Linda
S. Muller has been recognized by Independent Living, Newburgh/Highland
NAACP, The Newburgh Developers Association, and the TIMES HERALD-RECORD
as one of the Region's Top 40 Most Influential Women; in 2004, she
received the award for "Women in Achievement" in the healthcare field;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, in 2007, Linda S. Muller was selected as a Woman
of Distinction by the TIMES HERALD-RECORD, and in 2011, she was honored
by the Orange County Human Rights Commission for her efforts in advanc-
ing the human rights of the people of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Linda S. Muller has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she was recognized by the Hudson Valley
Association of Women & Friends as a person in the community who makes a
difference; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she received the Elant Signature Award, as well
as Leadership Orange's Pinnacle of Leadership Award in 2012; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of her community, Linda S.
Muller currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Community
Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS), National Associ-
ation of Community Health Centers (NACHC), Orange County Chamber of
Commerce, and Elant; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Linda S. Muller has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Linda S. Muller has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda S. Muller upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Trowell-Harris Leadership Mentor Award on February 7, 2015; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda S. Muller.
