LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Daryl Riley upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 Scholarship Award by the Major
General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Daryl Riley upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 17th Annual
Tuition Assistance Awards Celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy, Daryl Riley plans to major
in Computer Engineering with a minor in African American studies at
Hampton University; and
WHEREAS, Daryl Riley is an active member of the Mount Carmel Church of
Christ; he is a junior deacon, sings in the youth choir, works with the
audio and visual ministry, is a part of the Disciples of Christ Youth
Fellowship, and serves as the Sunday School Junior Financial Secretary;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, he has volunteered at the Salvation Army soup
kitchen, and tutors children at the Salvation Army Newburgh Corps Commu-
nity Center; he has participated in the SUNY New Paltz Science and Tech-
nology Entry Program, and was chosen to attend the program's annual
conference at Albany University; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Daryl Riley has displayed
exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community responsi-
bility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled; and
WHEREAS, Daryl Riley, in achieving this academic honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence he
brings to his family, friends, community and school; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daryl Riley upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend to him best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daryl Riley.
