LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Lieutenant Wayne T. Griffith II upon
the occasion of his retirement after more than 26 years of dedicated
service to the Whitesboro Police Department, Whitesboro, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The quality of life in these communities is largely reflec-
tive of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of the
agencies which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; one such individual
is Wayne T. Griffith II; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Lieutenant
Wayne T. Griffith II upon the occasion of his retirement after more than
26 years of dedicated service to the Whitesboro Police Department, to be
celebrated at a Retirement Dinner on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at
Hart's Hill Inn, Whitesboro, New York; and
WHEREAS, On January 30, 1989, Wayne T. Griffith II joined the Whites-
boro Police Department; during his tenure, he rose through the ranks
from the position of Sergeant to the post of Lieutenant on January 10,
2013; he officially retired from this position on May 22, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For most of his illustrious career, Lieutenant Wayne T.
Griffith II served as a Firearms Instructor and a Smith & Wesson Armor-
er; in addition, his leadership was invaluable in solving numerous high
level cases in Whitesboro, including a 1994 homicide and multiple
robberies and burglaries; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wayne T. Griffith II also helped the Whitesboro
Fire Department to determine the causes of various fires; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lieutenant Wayne T. Griffith II has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lieutenant Wayne T. Griffith II upon the occasion of his retire-
ment after more than 26 years of dedicated service to the Whitesboro
Police Department, Whitesboro, New York, and to wish him well in all his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lieutenant Wayne T. Griffith II.
