LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the Lewis County
Hospital Foundation on September 12, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those medical professionals within our midst
who have made significant contributions to the quality of life therein;
and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Josefina
Tan-Domingo upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Lewis County Hospital Foundation, to be celebrated at its Annual
Gala on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Ridgeview Inn, Lowville,
New York; and
WHEREAS, After four decades of dedicated medical service and as a
leader in her profession, Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo has proven herself to
be a great asset to medicine and to the health and welfare of the citi-
zens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo received her medical degree from the
University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, in 1965; she completed her resi-
dency at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and her fellow-
ship in obstetrics and gynecology at Queens Hospital in Jamaica; and
WHEREAS, In June of 1974, Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo began her career as
a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist at Lewis County General
Hospital (LCGH), delivering her first baby in less than one month; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo retired in 2003 after 29 years of
steadfast and unwavering service, however, after one year she came out
of retirement and has continued her practice at LCGH for the past 11
years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious medical career, Dr. Josefina Tan-
Domingo has delivered close to 5,000 babies and has secured her legacy
as a dedicated and compassionate women's health physician with patients,
staff and the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals whose professional commitment and dedication enhance the excellence
of health care in their community and the great State of New York; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Lewis County Hospital Foundation on September
12, 2015, and to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo.
