LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Julia Delgado upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Scholarship Award by the Major
General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Julia Delgado upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 17th Annual
Tuition Assistance Awards Celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy, Julia Delgado ranks 12th
among her class of 712; she currently takes only AP courses, all with
grades of 100 and above, and is a member of the National, Science and
Italian Honor Societies, as well as Key Club; she has exceptional writ-
ing skills, and hopes to become a writer; and
WHEREAS, Outside of her purely academic interests, Julia Delgado has
studied martial arts since age six, and today holds a second-degree
black belt in tang soo do, a Korean specialty with elements of karate
and kung fu; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she has volunteered at the Newburgh Animal Shel-
ter, Gardnertown Elementary School and Washington Street Preschool; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Julia Delgado has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Julia Delgado, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Julia Delgado upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend to her best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and wellbeing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Julia Delgado.
