LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gabrielle Liddy upon the occasion of
her retirement after 25 years of dedicated service to the Oneida County
Sheriff's Office

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Gabrielle
Liddy upon the occasion of her retirement after 25 years of dedicated
service to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, Gabrielle Liddy was born, raised, and currently resides in
Rome, New York; she began her career with the Oneida County Sheriff's
Office in 1990; and
WHEREAS, During her exceptional tenure with the department, Gabrielle
Liddy has served in numerous capacities including Correction Officer,
Officer in Charge, Inmate Program Supervisor, Armory Supervisor, liaison
for the New York State Education Department's Incarcerated Youth
Program, Public Relations Officer, and Alternatives to Incarceration
Board member, as well as Sheriffs Emergency Response Team Commander
(Correction Division); and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Gabrielle Liddy has attended numerous
training sessions aimed at enhancing her knowledge of correctional
facility management and human resources including a dual certification
from the United States Department of Justice and Louisiana State Univer-
sity as a "train the trainer" in emergency response to weapons of mass
destruction; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Gabrielle Liddy received her first promotion to the
rank of Sergeant; in December of that same year she was appointed to the
rank of Lieutenant, and nine years later, she received her third
promotion to the position of Captain, and subsequently, was assigned to
oversee correctional facility operations; and
WHEREAS, In 2011, Gabrielle Liddy was appointed by Sheriff Robert M.
Maciol to serve as Chief Deputy of the Correction Division; she was the
first female chosen to serve in this capacity in Oneida County and
remains one of only a few to hold this position state-wide; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Gabrielle Liddy has
received numerous awards and citations including Rookie of the Year,
Good Conduct, Promotion of Grade, Ready Commendation, Educational
Achievement and the Grand Cordon; in 2013, this remarkable woman was the
recipient of the prestigious New York State Sheriffs Association's Carl
Draxler Award; and
WHEREAS, In her personal life, Gabrielle Liddy has worked diligently
to earn numerous educational achievements including an Associate's
Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Adminis-
tration, and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration;
currently, she is working towards a Ph.D. in Law and Public Policy, with
an expected graduation date of September of 2016; and
WHEREAS, When she is not with her family or studying for her degree,
Gabrielle Liddy serves as an adjunct professor at Keuka College, the
State University of New York (SUNY) Morrisville, and Utica College; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Mark and their two
children, Brandon and Brittney, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gabrielle Liddy upon the occasion of her retirement after 25
years of dedicated service to the Oneida County Sheriffs Office; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gabrielle Liddy.
