LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sally Ponce upon the occasion of her
retirement after more than 30 years of distinguished service to the
Village of South Floral Park, New York, on January 21, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sally Ponce upon her retirement after more than 30 years of distin-
guished service to the Village of South Floral Park, New York, to be
celebrated at a party held in her honor on Thursday, January 21, 2016,
at Westbury Manor, Westbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1968, Sally Ponce moved to South Floral Park, New York;
she later married her husband, Hector, and they happily raised four
children; and
WHEREAS, Just over three decades ago, Sally Ponce was appointed to the
position of Village Administrator of South Floral Park, a title she held
until her official retirement in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Sally Ponce has worked under four
different Mayors and 16 Trustees; in addition to her role as administra-
tor, she served as President of the Long Island Clerks and Treasurer's
Association from 1992-1993; and
WHEREAS, In 2002, Sally Ponce was the recipient of the esteemed Clerk
of the Year Award and was proudly named a Woman of Distinction; and
WHEREAS, After her long deserved retirement, Sally Ponce plans on
spending more time with her beloved family, reading a lot of books and
travelling with her husband; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her public service career, Sally Ponce served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official acts;
and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Hector, and their
four children, as well as their grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sally Ponce upon the occasion of her retirement after more than
30 years of distinguished service to the Village of South Floral Park,
New York, on January 21, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sally Ponce.
