LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating The Honorable Edward O. Spain upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 20th Annual Frank W.
Kennedy Memorial Award by the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of certain
individuals that should be recognized for having given of their time and
energies to serve the best interests of their communities and to public-
ly acknowledge their service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to congratulate The Honorable
Edward O. Spain upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
20th Annual Frank W. Kennedy Memorial Award by the Lansingburgh Boys &
Girls Club, which was celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at
Franklin Terrace, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Frank W. Kennedy Memorial Award is bestowed upon an indi-
vidual who epitomizes the characteristics of integrity, generosity, and
loyalty to the community; and
WHEREAS, Justice Edward O. Spain began his judicial career in 1977,
when he was elected to the Troy Police Court; in 1985, he was elected to
the Rensselaer County Family Court, and six years later, he served on
the State Supreme Court in the 3rd Judicial District; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Justice Edward O. Spain was appointed Associate
Judge to the Appellate Division of the 3rd Department, by Former Gover-
nor Mario M. Cuomo; and
WHEREAS, Generosity and sensitivity towards others have been hallmarks
of Justice Edward O. Spain's life; after 35 years of laudable service,
he officially retired on December 31, 2013; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate The Honorable Edward O. Spain upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 20th Annual Frank W. Kennedy Memorial
Award by the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Edward O. Spain.
