LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the 2016 Man of the Year Award
by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
individuals of preeminent character whose lives exemplify the highest
ideals of humanity and whose lifework and civic endeavor serve to
enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as recip-
ient of the 2016 Man of the Year Award by the Merrick Chamber of
Commerce, Merrick, New York; and
WHEREAS, This special occasion will be celebrated at the Merrick Cham-
ber of Commerce 81st Annual Installation Dinner on Thursday, January 28,
2016, at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to his community and
profession and consequently, has been designated for this most presti-
gious award; and
WHEREAS, Serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the
Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) since 2014, Charles J. Fuschil-
lo, Jr. is worthy of this meritorious honor; and
WHEREAS, Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. served as a member of the New York
State Senate for nearly 16 years prior to his appointment to the AFA;
and
WHEREAS, During his tenure in the New York State Senate, Charles J.
Fuschillo, Jr. authored more than 200 state laws and chaired the Senate
Consumer Protection and Transportation Committees; he also served on the
Senate Health Committee; and
WHEREAS, Under Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr.'s luminous leadership, the
AFA's presence has grown nationally; he has increased critical assist-
ance to individuals confronting dementia as well as to their caregivers
and their families; and
WHEREAS, Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. has been honored for his dedication
and commitment to his work at AFA and to a lifetime of community
service; recently, he was the recipient of many awards and accolades
including Long Island Cares, Inc., Harry Chapin Food Bank's Humanitarian
Award, Francis X. Pendl Firefighters Award, and the 2014 Badge of Cour-
age from the Firefighters Museum as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award
from New York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Order Sons of Italy; and
WHEREAS, Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. previously served as the Chief
Operating Officer of a non-profit family service agency serving Long
Island and New York City, and holds a Bachelor of Business Adminis-
tration (BBA) degree from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2016 Man of the Year Award by the Merrick Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr.
