LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara King, Esq. upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award on
October 14, 2015
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Barbara King, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award, celebrated at the Legal Project's
Pro Bono Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Century
House, Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award is given to an attorney
who has demonstrated an ability to litigate a matter on behalf of a
victim of domestic violence and shows the utmost professionalism and
integrity in their dealings with the court, litigants and attorneys,
which are qualities exemplified by Stanley Rosen during his lifetime;
and
WHEREAS, Barbara King earned her bachelor's degree from John Jay
University, and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the City University of
New York at Queens College; and
WHEREAS, After graduating law school, Barbara King practiced law on
Long Island for a few years before relocating to the Capital District
where she became a Partner at Gordon, Siegel, Mastrom, Mullaney and
Gordon PLLC; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Barbara King is an Associate at Tully Rinckey PLLC
where she focuses on family and matrimonial law; and
WHEREAS, Barbara King has generously volunteered her time and energies
to providing matrimonial clinics to indigent people; and
WHEREAS, Barbara King is a member of the New York State Bar Associ-
ation and is a Delegate to the Bar for Schenectady County; and
WHEREAS, For her outstanding work, Barbara King has received a multi-
tude of awards including being named the 2010 Schenectady County Bar
Association's Lawyer of the Year, and received the 2011 Schenectady
County Human Rights Commission's Justice Award, and the 2014 Capital
District Women's Bar Association Kimberly Troisi-Paton Leadership Award;
in addition, she was recognized in 2012 as New York Law Journal Lawyer
who lead by example; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Barbara King has worked diligently to
help fill the gap of unmet legal needs in New York State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to its atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara King, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award on October 14, 2015; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara King, Esq.
