LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Stillwater High School Boys Varsi-
ty Soccer Coach Ian Lewis upon the occasion of his designation as recip-
ient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's 2014 Coach
of the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
notable educators and athletic coaches within our midst who serve the
youth of this great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves
and their schools through their exemplary athletic achievements and
their outstanding commitment to education; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Stillwater High School Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Ian Lewis upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 National Soccer
Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion was celebrated at an awards ceremony
held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, in Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1941, the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA) is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization
serving members at every level of the game; it works diligently to
inspire passion in coaches and players by providing an unparalleled
nationwide program of clinics, courses and other educational opportu-
nities; and
WHEREAS, The NSCAA Coach of the Year Award is a prestigious honor
given to one small schools coach, and one large schools coach in New
York State; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ian Lewis led the Stillwater High School Boys Varsity
Soccer Team to an undefeated record of 16-0 and in capturing the Wasaren
League Championship for the second time in school history; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Coach Ian Lewis's outstanding guidance helped
his players from the previous year receive the NSCAA Gold Team Ethics
Award for completing the entire 2013 fall season without receiving
either a yellow or red card; his squad was one of 16 high school teams,
and one of only three boys teams in the country to receive this honor;
and
WHEREAS, Coach Ian Lewis's positive attitude, selfless commitment,
goal-oriented and balanced approach to instruction, on top of his genu-
ine concern for his students have contributed to his enduring success as
a coach and mentor at Stillwater High School, earning him the just
respect of his community and the State of New York; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stillwater High School Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Ian Lewis
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America's 2014 Coach of the Year Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stillwater High School Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Ian Lewis.
