LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 19th Anniversary of Homecrest
Community Services, Inc. to be celebrated February 26, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that individuals and
organizations who work to improve the quality of life of the communities
they serve merit the highest commendation of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 19th Anniversary of Homecrest Community Services, Inc. to be
celebrated on Friday, February 26, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Homecrest Community Services (HCS) was established in 1997,
and has two centers in southern Brooklyn, located in Bensonhurst and
Sheepshead Bay; this vital community based multi-service agency provides
social services to citizens who are mainly immigrants from China, Hong
Kong and other Southeast Asian countries; and
WHEREAS, Homecrest Community Services in New Utrecht has a contract
with New York City Aging Department to provide 23,750 hot lunches and
comprehensive services to seniors; and
WHEREAS, Homecrest Community Services provides services including
senior services, immigration, bilingual and bicultural education, citi-
zenship, health and wellness promotion, Social Adult Day Care (SADC),
access services to senior citizens, homebound disabled, new immigrants,
and children and families in need; and
WHEREAS, Homecrest Community Services is celebrating its 19th year of
service, representing over 3,000 Chinese senior Americans in New York
City, and provides services to more than 140,000 Chinese Americans
throughout these years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the past 19 years, Homecrest Community Services
has provided nutritious and delicious hot lunches, enriched many lives
socially and culturally, promoted health and well-being, and have
assisted many with learning the English language, as well as provided
legal consultation to many Chinese Americans; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 19th Anniversary of Homecrest Community Services, Inc.
to be celebrated February 26, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Homecrest Community Services, Inc.
