LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Irma Waldo upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the YWCA of the Greater Capi-
tal Region, Inc. on September 30, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the state of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life in one's community; and
WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
remarkable individuals that should be recognized for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dr.
Irma Waldo upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc., to be celebrated at its
Resourceful Women's Awards Luncheon held on Wednesday, September 30,
2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The YWCA was created with the intention of providing a safe
place for women to launch a new start; through their continued determi-
nation, this vital organization is able to assist women in reaching
their goals and to maintain self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, The YWCA strives to eliminate racism, empower women and
promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all; and
WHEREAS, The first YWCA was founded in 1855; since that time the
organization has grown to over 25 million members in 122 countries; in
the United States, the YWCA is comprised of two million members and 300
local associations; and
WHEREAS, Since 2000, the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region has held
an award ceremony to honor individuals whose community and professional
pursuits advance the empowerment of women, as well as represent the
spirit of determination which defines the women of the YWCA; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Irma Waldo is being recognized by the YWCA of the Greater
Capital Region, Inc. for making a substantial difference in her communi-
ty through her work as the Medical Director at Twin County Recovery
Services of both Columbia and Greene Counties; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an indi-
vidual of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Irma Waldo upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. on September
30, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Irma Waldo.
