LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scout
Troop 10, Great Neck, New York, celebrated on September 27, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exem-
plify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scout Troop 10, Great Neck, New York,
celebrated at a gala dinner on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Leonard's
Palazzo, Great Neck, New York; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America was incorporated on February 8, 1910,
and chartered by Congress in 1916, to provide an educational program for
boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibil-
ities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness; and
WHEREAS, Since 1914, the young men of Boy Scout Troop 10 have been
helping the Great Neck community through many generations, through good
times and tough times, through war times and peace times; and
WHEREAS, Chartered by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1915, Boy Scout
Troop 10 is known as "The Rough Riders" and is proud to be one of the
oldest troops of the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 10 is sponsored by the Citizen's Group of
Great Neck, and belongs to the Shelter Rock District in the Theodore
Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 10 gives back to the community by developing
more responsible citizens and through numerous service projects; simi-
larly, the Great Neck community has helped the boys of Troop 10 grow
into young citizens, understanding what it means to grow, to learn, to
work as a team, to lead, and to give back; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America has manifestly contributed to the pres-
ervation of those treasured ideals of compassion, honor, preparedness
and concern for others which exemplify our American Heritage; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scout Troop 10 of Great Neck,
New York, celebrated on Sunday, September 27, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Boy Scout Troop 10, Great Neck, New York.
