LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Neil Yeoman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 Man of the Year Award by the
Merrick Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Neil Yeoman has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Neil Yeoman
upon the occasion of being named 2015 Man of the Year by the Merrick
Chamber of Commerce, celebrated at its 80th Annual Installation Dinner
held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Chateau Briand, Carle Place,
New York; and
WHEREAS, An award-winning Chemical Engineer, Neil Yeoman served as
Treasurer of the Merrick Historical Society since 1975, and as a member
of the Town of Hempstead's Solid Waste Advisory Committee for 27 years;
and
WHEREAS, Neil Yeoman has held the positions of Treasurer and Webmaster
for the South Merrick Community Civic Association; and
WHEREAS, Neil Yeoman is also a member of the Bellmore-Merrick Communi-
ty Reconstruction Committee, a project of the New York Rising Program
established in the wake of Hurricane Sandy to help New Yorkers rebuild
their battered homes and businesses; and
WHEREAS, A proponent of learning, Neil Yeoman has attended Nassau
Community College since his retirement in 2001 as an auditing student
under New York State's Senior Citizen Observer Program; and
WHEREAS, Neil Yeoman was employed as a Chemical Engineer for more than
four illustrious decades; for 11 years he worked as the Process Manager
in charge of designing chemical processing plants, and 14 years as a
Research and Development Director at a chemical processing equipment
supplier; he also spent eight years as a Vice President and Chief Chemi-
cal Engineer of an engineering and construction company, and has been a
member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering since 1956; and
WHEREAS, Neil Yeoman has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Neil Yeoman has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife of more than 45 years,
Loretta, who feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in
his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Neil Yeoman has displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Neil Yeoman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2015 Man of the Year Award by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Neil Yeoman.
