LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Betty Lippai upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by the
Merrick Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Betty Lippai has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Betty Lippai
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Woman of
the Year Award by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, celebrated at its
80th Annual Installation Dinner held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at
the Chateau Briand, Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, Betty Lippai became a vital member of the Merrick Gables
Association; she chaired social events and attended Town of Hempstead
Zoning Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, Betty Lippai was an active member of the Chatterton Elementa-
ry School and Merrick Avenue Middle School Parent Teacher Association;
she also volunteered for the United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County, the
Friends of the Merrick Library, the Merrick Kiwanis Club, and the
Merrick Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, A strong advocate for the elderly, Betty Lippai encouraged
older adults to participate in social events and community life; and
WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Betty Lippai owned Plants Plus in Bellmore, New
York; she also owned and operated Betty Lippai Realty from 1975-2011;
today, she works for Century 21 American Homes Real Estate where she
earned the Achiever's Award; and
WHEREAS, Betty Lippai has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Betty Lippai has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her loving husband, Andy, and
her children, Leslie and Russell, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Betty Lippai has displayed through-
out her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Betty Lippai upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Betty Lippai.
