LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating David Bryce and the Tech Valley
Center of Gravity upon the occasion of their designation as recipients
of the Revitalize Troy Award by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those business
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate David
Bryce and the Tech Valley Center of Gravity upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of the Revitalize Troy Award by the Downtown
Troy Business Improvement District which was celebrated at its Annual
Dinner on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Franklin Plaza in Troy, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District (BID) is to cultivate and advocate for the economic growth of
downtown Troy by creating an inviting, dynamic, and sustainable communi-
ty which celebrates the city's history while building towards its
future; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to improving the quality of life within the
district, the Downtown Troy BID works to further enhance and develop its
community into a more vibrant, attractive destination for visitors,
businesses, residents, workers and property owners; and
WHEREAS, The Revitalize Troy Award, sponsored by the Troy Local Devel-
opment Corporation, is given to a project that best showcases a piece of
the city's past and present, with a benefit to its future; and
WHEREAS, David Bryce, of Bryce Properties, and the Tech Valley Center
of Gravity partnered together on the Quackenbush Building project, a
large Victorian-era structure previously housing the G.V.S. Quackenbush
& Co. and W.T. Grant & Co. stores which had been vacant for many years;
and
WHEREAS, In 2015, David Bryce began the task of revitalizing the
Quackenbush Building in downtown Troy to bring new life to Third Street;
and
WHEREAS, Since then, the Tech Valley Center of Gravity has moved into
the building to offer space, equipment, education and camaraderie to the
organization's members and the overall community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate David Bryce and the Tech Valley Center of Gravity upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of the Revitalize Troy Award
by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Bryce and the Tech Valley Center of Gravity.
