LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dan Schlongar upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Established Business Award by the
Downtown Troy Business Improvement District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those business
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Dan
Schlongar upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Established Business Award by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District which was celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Wednesday, Decem-
ber 2, 2015, at Franklin Plaza in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District (BID) is to cultivate and advocate for the economic growth of
downtown Troy by creating an inviting, dynamic, and sustainable communi-
ty which celebrates the city's history while building towards its
future; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to improving the quality of life within the
district, the Downtown Troy BID works to further enhance and develop its
community into a more vibrant, attractive destination for visitors,
businesses, residents, workers and property owners; and
WHEREAS, The Established Business Award is given to a retailer or
restaurateur who has been of great service to the Downtown Troy communi-
ty throughout the years; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1908, Troy Quick Shoe Repair has proudly served
the community for over a century; and
WHEREAS, Dan Schlongar began his career in the shoe repair business in
1978, when he started learning the craft part time during summers as a
teenager; and
WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Dan Schlongar has been the owner of
Troy Quick Shoe Repair; during this time, he has become known in the
community as a true tradesman and as a respected Trojan who inspires
others to celebrate the art and industry of handmade goods; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dan Schlongar upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Established Business Award by the Downtown Troy Busi-
ness Improvement District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Schlongar.
