LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Erika Groff upon the occasion of her
being designated for special recognition by the YWCA of the Greater
Capital Region, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Erika Groff upon the occasion of her being designated for special recog-
nition for her achievements by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region,
Inc.; this auspicious occasion was celebrated at its Resourceful Women's
Luncheon Awards on September 30, 2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1855, the YWCA was created with the intention
of being a safe place for women to improve their lives; over the years,
it has assisted countless female members of the community in reaching
their goals and maintaining self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, Today, the YWCA has 25 million members in 122 countries work-
ing every day to fulfill the organization's mission of "eliminating
racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and
dignity for all"; and
WHEREAS, Since 2000, the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region has held
its Resourceful Women's Luncheon Awards to honor those whose community
and professional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, as well as
individuals who represent the spirit of determination that defines the
women of the YWCA; and
WHEREAS, Erika Groff is being recognized for her tireless efforts in
making a difference as an entrepreneur through her work on the front
line as a Chief Household Officer; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Erika Groff has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Erika Groff upon the occasion of her being designated for special
recognition by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Erika Groff.
