LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Susan Guliani upon the occasion of her
retirement after 38 years of distinguished service to the New York State
Long Island Region State Park System

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Susan Guliani, Director of Jones Beach State Park, upon the occasion of
her retirement after 38 years of distinguished service to the New York
State Long Island Region State Park System; she will officially retire
on February 28, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will be celebrated at a retirement
party on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Carlyle on the Green, Bethpage
State Park Clubhouse in Farmingdale, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1977, Susan Guliani began her illustrious career with the
Long Island Region State Park System as a seasonal employee; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Susan Guliani held various positions and
worked her way through the ranks of the park system; in 2003, she became
Director of Jones Beach State Park, the position from which she is
retiring; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Susan Guliani has been directing the world
famous Jones Beach State Park which serves as the center point of parks
on Long Island, with its 6.5 miles of white sand beach along the Atlan-
tic Ocean and beautiful boardwalk; and
WHEREAS, For 38 years, Susan Guliani, rendered faithful, conscientious
and valuable service to the New York State Long Island Region State Park
System, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Susan Guliani served with loyalty,
honor and distinction; governed by a keen sense of duty, she always
showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Susan Guliani upon the occasion of her retirement after 38 years
of distinguished service to the New York State Long Island Region State
Park System; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan Guliani.
