LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Firefighter Robert Kreiter upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition after 50 years of
dedicated service to the Main-Transit Fire Department
WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout the
Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the arduous
field of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Firefighter Robert
Kreiter upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 50 years of dedicated service to the Main-Transit Fire Department;
and
WHEREAS, A resident of the Town of Amherst, New York, where he raised
his family, Robert Kreiter has rendered faithful, conscientious and
valuable service to the people of his community as a member of the Main-
Transit Fire Department (MTFD) for half a century; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious tenure as Fire Police Lieutenant,
Robert Kreiter carried out his duties with loyalty, honor and
distinction; and
WHEREAS, Today, this esteemed firefighter serves as an active Life
Member of the MTFD, and continues to respond to emergency calls; he
remains a tremendous role model and inspiration to his fellow department
members; and
WHEREAS, Robert Kreiter has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Robert Kreiter was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems, earn-
ing him the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others in his community which Robert Kreiter has
displayed throughout his remarkable career with the MTFD; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Robert
Kreiter is such a firefighter; throughout over 50 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call
of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Firefighter Robert Kreiter upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service to the Main-
Transit Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Firefighter Robert Kreiter.
