LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Gray upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 Champion of Youth Award by the Boys
& Girls Club of Troy
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, John Gray has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John Gray upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Champion of
Youth Award by the Boys & Girls Club of Troy, at its First Annual Great
Futures Gala held on Thursday, September 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, John Gray received this auspicious award for going above and
beyond in service and commitment to youth at the Troy Boys & Girls Club;
and
WHEREAS, John Gray grew up in the Capital District and graduated from
LaSalle Institute; furthering his education, he studied at Hudson Valley
Community College before earning a bachelor's degree from State Univer-
sity of New York at Oswego; and
WHEREAS, Today, John Gray is a well-known news anchor within the Capi-
tal District who has reported on many big stories such as the terrorist
attacks on September 11th, the Pope's visit to America and the Presiden-
tial campaigns, as well as local area news; and
WHEREAS, John Gray believes in the mission of the Troy Boys & Girls
Club and has volunteered his time and energies serving as the Host of
the Club's Pizzapalooza event; over the years, he has truly been a
strong advocate for the Club and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Recognized for his philanthropic achievements as well as his
professional successes, John Gray has been the recipient of an Emmy
Award, the 40 Under 40 Award by the Business Reviews, and Hudson Valley
Community College's Most Distinguished Alumni Award; he has also been
named the Columnist of the Year by both the Associated Press and New
York News Publishers Association; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John Gray has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Gray has displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Gray upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2015 Champion of Youth Award by the Boys & Girls Club of Troy; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Gray.
