LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Clarence Citizens for Veterans upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the Organization of the Year
Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce on February 25, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious individuals and institutions of the State of New York whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Clarence Citizens for Veterans upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Organization of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber
of Commerce, to be celebrated at its 44th Annual Awards Dinner on Thurs-
day, February 25, 2016, at Samuel's Grande Manor, Williamsville, New
York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great admiration that this Legislative Body
applauds the efforts of all the individuals involved in this vital
organization, and to recognize their unwavering devotion to improving
the quality of life for others; and
WHEREAS, Established in October of 2010, Clarence Citizens for Veter-
ans (CCV) is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to honor and
support our nations veterans and current military; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, CCV has raised significant funds for
such causes as the Wounded Warrior Project, Cup of Joe/Green Beans, and
Homes for Our Troops, a national organization with the goal to provide
housing for post 9/11 disabled veterans; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, in 2012, a local veteran and double amputee was
selected to have a handicap accessible home built in North Tonawanda;
Clarence Citizens for Veterans' fundraising efforts were designated for
this extraordinary project, and in addition to helping with the funds,
CCV members helped build his home; and
WHEREAS, With an unwavering dedication to its community, CCV also
works with such local organizations as WNY Veterans Housing Coalition,
WNY Heroes, Buffalo One Stop, Honor Flight Buffalo, the WNY
Iraq/Afghanistan Memorial, and most recently, the Call of Duty Veterans
Training Center at the Response to Love Center in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition, CCV was instrumental in the establishment of the
Staff Sergeant Mark A. Spence Memorial Scholarship at Clarence High
School; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Clarence Citizens for Veter-
ans has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Clarence Citizens for Veterans is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Clarence Citizens for Veterans upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of the Organization of the Year Award by the
Clarence Chamber of Commerce on February 25, 2016; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Clarence Citizens for Veterans.
