LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert A. Schick upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award
by Happiness House
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert A. Schick upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award by Happiness House to be cele-
brated at its 13th Annual Gala Dinner and Auction Event, on Friday,
February 5th, 2016, at Belhurst Castle, Geneva, New York; and
WHEREAS, Given annually, this auspicious award is presented to indi-
viduals who have dedicated their time and served as advocates on behalf
of people with developmental disabilities; Robert "Bob" A. Schick's
outstanding contributions and accomplishments are consistent with the
mission and vision of Happiness House; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Geneva, New York, "Bob" A. Schick graduated
from Medialle College in Buffalo, New York; he then furthered his educa-
tion by attending the University of Delaware, Stonier Graduate School of
Banking; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, "Bob" A. Schick joined Lyons National Bank, holding
the position of Chief Financial Officer; four years later, he was
elected President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and Holding
Company, and served on both Boards of Directors; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man has served as Trustee and Council Presi-
dent for the Boys Scouts of America Seneca Waterways Council Trust and
Chair of the Happiness House Foundation; currently, he serves as the
Chair of the Board of Trustees of Keuka College and the Lyons Community
Health Initiative Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, "Bob" A. Schick has served as Chair of the Geneva
Chamber of Commerce, the Independent Bankers Association of New York and
the New York Bankers Association Retirement System; he was also a former
member of the Smith Opera House Board of Trustees, Treasurer of Lyons
Industrial Development Agency and Treasurer of the FLCC Foundation; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his two loving daughters,
Danielle and Dawn, and his granddaughter, Emilee, all of whom feel priv-
ileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, "Bob" A. Schick has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of his family, friends, and community at large;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which "Bob" A. Schick has displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor "Bob" A. Schick upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award by Happiness House; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert A. Schick.
