LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Fidelia Lessor upon the occasion
of celebrating her 100th Birthday on December 7, 2015

WHEREAS, Fidelia Lessor of Plattsburgh, New York, was born on December
7, 1915; and
WHEREAS, Family and friends joyfully celebrated Fidelia Lessor's 100th
Birthday at the Senior Center in Plattsburgh, New York, with a birthday
cake adorned with beautiful frosting flowers and candles; and
WHEREAS, Fidelia Lessor, daughter of Walter and Ruby Hanmer, was born
on a large farm in New Haven, Vermont, and lived in a grand farmhouse
with her four brothers and sisters who gave her the nickname "Dee"
because they could not pronounce "Fidelia"; and
WHEREAS, The family farmhouse was always full of life with eight or 10
people sitting down at the dining room table for every meal after a hard
day's work of milking cows, gardening or pulling wagons full of hay up
and down the cornfields; and
WHEREAS, Dee Lessor attended grade school in a little schoolhouse half
a mile down the road from her home; she graduated from a nearby high
school; and
WHEREAS, After graduating, Dee Lessor started dating a former school-
mate, Ralph Lessor, and they were married in February of 1936; the
couple moved to Burlington, Vermont, where Dee Lessor worked in the
hospitality industry; and
WHEREAS, Yearning for tranquility, the couple eventually moved to
Plattsburgh, New York, with their three children, where Dee Lessor
worked at J.C. Penny and Ralph Lessor owned a Pontiac garage; in addi-
tion, they liked to square dance and go to the movie theater; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Dee Lessor was a tax preparer and was active
in the Catholic Daughters at Saint John's Church in Plattsburgh, New
York, where she organized the annual Garage Sale and Card Party; and
WHEREAS, Today, Dee Lessor enjoys knitting, doing puzzles and playing
pinochle, and expects to continue enjoying life for at least 15 more
years; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with her zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman, who has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life, has inspired the lives of her
many friends and family; and
WHEREAS, This beloved lady has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Fidelia Lessor upon the occasion of her 100th Birthday; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Fidelia Lessor.
