LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lisa Wilson-Good upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award by the
Capital District Women's Employment and Resource Center

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who made significant
contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which enhances the basic humanity among us
all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lisa Wilson
Good upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Woman of
Achievement Award by the Capital District Women's Employment and
Resource Center; this momentous occasion was celebrated at its Luncheon
on October 6, 2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District Women's Employment and Resource Center
(WERC) is a private, not-for-profit organization that works to advance
women's success in the workplace by building their economic and personal
independence; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1988, WERC has provided quality workforce
development services to more than 6,700 women from both Albany and Rens-
selaer Counties who have lost their source of income upon the death,
divorce, separation, disability, or dislocation of a spouse or who are
single mothers; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious Woman of Achievement Award is presented annu-
ally to a woman whose career path has been filled with unique transi-
tions, unexpected challenges, opportunities to take risks, and who
serves as an excellent role model for women served by the WERC; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Wilson-Good is the Founder of Urban Grief, a community
project which works to increase awareness on the grief, loss and trauma
affecting victims of violence; and
WHEREAS, After earning her Associate's degree from Maria College, Lisa
Wilson-Good went on to receive her Bachelor's degree from Skidmore
College, as well as her Master of Social Work from the University at
Albany; she is currently a doctoral student in the School of Social
Welfare; and
WHEREAS, With an unwavering dedication to her community, Lisa Wilson-
Good is a coordinator for Albany's Trauma Response Team where she is
responsible for going into neighborhoods with a history of violence and
assisting the area when a violence-related traumatic event occurs; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community she so ably serves, Lisa Wilson-
Good serves on the Equal Justice USA Board and New Yorkers for Alterna-
tives to the Death Penalty Board; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lisa Wilson-Good has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lisa Wilson-Good upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Woman of Achievement Award by the Capital District Women's
Employment and Resource Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lisa Wilson-Good.
