LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Psychedelicatessen upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the New Business Award by the Downtown
Troy Business Improvement District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Psychedelicatessen upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the New Business Award by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Wednesday, December 2, 2015,
at Franklin Plaza, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) strives
to cultivate and advocate for the economic growth of downtown Troy by
creating an inviting, dynamic, and sustainable community which cele-
brates the city's history while building towards its future; and
WHEREAS, The Downtown Troy BID is dedicated to improving the quality
of life within the district to further enhance and make our community a
vibrant, attractive destination for visitors, businesses, residents,
property owners, the daily workforce, and students; and
WHEREAS, The New Business Award is given to a business opened within
the past year that has proven to be a stand-out in the downtown
district; and
WHEREAS, Prior to opening Psychedelicatessen on River Street in Down-
town Troy, Laura Kerrone managed a bagel business in the Midwest out of
a tie-dyed converted school bus; and
WHEREAS, After a few setbacks due to needing very specific and expen-
sive ovens and other equipment, Psychedelicatessen successfully
attracted residents, visitors and students who were looking for whole-
some food which is locally sourced; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Psychedelicatessen exert a strong,
positive influence on the communities they serve and are a crucial
element in the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Psychedelicatessen upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the New Business Award by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Kerrone, Owner, Psychedelicatessen.
