LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marion Oliver upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Senior Lifetime Achievement Award
by the Capital District Senior Issues Forum on October 7, 2015

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Marion Oliver has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Marion Oliver
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Senior
Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital District Senior Issues Forum,
celebrated at its 17th Annual Senior Lifetime Achievement Awards Ceremo-
ny on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Congregation Beth Emeth, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District Senior Issues Forum is a voluntary
initiative among faith communities, organizations and individuals which
provides support for seniors in the Capital District through education
and dialogue; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District Senior Issues Forum focuses on senior
housing issues and the care and success of seniors where caregivers,
faith organizations, government officials, housing facility and service
groups, administrators, as well as seniors themselves join together to
generate support for seniors in the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998, the Capital District Senior Issues Forum has
grown from its small, grass roots beginnings to a full-fledged organiza-
tion, and has held 16 ceremonies and has recognized over 676 seniors
over the age of 85 for their lifetime achievements; and
WHEREAS, Marion Oliver is recognized by the forum for being an
extraordinary senior, for making a difference in the lives of others and
for giving selflessly through community service; and
WHEREAS, Marion Oliver has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Marion Oliver has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Marion Oliver has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marion Oliver upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Senior Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital District
Senior Issues Forum on October 7, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marion Oliver.
