LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming
and Diving Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Cham-
pionship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through rigorous training, mental and physical discipline, teamwork
and a dedicated coaching staff; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and developing a sense
of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team captured
their second straight New York State Championship and 14th consecutive
Section V Title, to complete another remarkable season; and
WHEREAS, No team can succeed without talent throughout its entire
roster, as is the case for the Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming and
Diving Team and its members: Ann Birmingham, Molly Brennan, Emma Corby,
Megan Deuel, Becca Evans, Maddie Holodnik, Kelly Knickerbocker, Bianca
Lopez, Sarah Minnigh, Anne Marie Mozrall, Katie Mullin, Stephie Riley,
Chloe Sarkis, Sydney Sarkis, Maddie Schaefer, Katie Smith, Sarah Smith,
and Lindsay Stone; and
WHEREAS, From a strong start to an even stronger finish, the Pittsford
Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team has been recognized for its depth
of skills, experience and teamwork, which were gained from a competitive
regular season schedule; and
WHEREAS, During the 2015 season, Pittsford achieved a 7-0 dual meet
record, and a 7-0 Junior Varsity (JV) record, as well as first place
finishes at the Hilton, New Hartford, Empire, and Shenendahowa Invita-
tionals; the team also won two New York State and Section V relay
titles, while setting numerous team and individual records with their
outstanding performances; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the team members were recognized for their
academic excellence with the New York State Scholar/Athlete Team Award
and the NISCA Gold Scholar Team Award; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by the Pittsford Girls Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team is in great part due to the efforts of Coach
Marty Keating, JV Coach Beth Dobberstein, and Diving Coaches Duane
Green, and Mark McMann, skilled and inspirational mentors, respected for
their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the outstanding members of the
Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team have proven themselves
to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably on
their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marty Keating and his staff have done a superb job in
guiding, molding and inspiring members of the Pittsford Girls Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and these outstanding athletes, and coaches, have clear-
ly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition
of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
hereby recognize and congratulate the Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming
and Diving Team on their championship season and overall team record;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the 2015 Pittsford Girls Varsity Swimming and

Diving Team, Coach Marty Keating, JV Coach Beth Dobberstein, and Diving
Coaches Duane Green, and Mark McMann.
