LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Corey Szyikowski upon the occasion of
being named the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year by the Central New York
Technology and Engineering Educators Association

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Corey Szyikowski upon the occasion of being named the 2015-2016 Teacher
of the Year by the Central New York Technology and Engineering Educators
Association; and
WHEREAS, The Central New York Technology and Engineering Educators
Association (CNYTEEA) was established in 1936 with the mission to
provide educational and fellowship experiences for teachers to continue
their professional development; and
WHEREAS, This vital association recognizes the accomplishments and
achievements of educators like Corey Szyikowski for their service,
activity, and professional development in the fields of engineering and
technology; and
WHEREAS, Corey Szyikowski is a seventh grade technology teacher at the
Emerson Dillon Middle School in the Phoenix Central School District, who
has collaborated with Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, to bring
a robotics component to his classroom; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed educator was nominated and chosen for the
CNYTEEA honor due to his ability to excite students about learning vari-
ous trades; and
WHEREAS, His love of teaching and his capability to instill confidence
in his students led to his recognition by the CNYTEEA; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Corey Szyikowski upon the occasion of being named the 2015-2016
Teacher of the Year by the Central New York Technology and Engineering
Educators Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Corey Szyikowski.
