LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Steve Jaffee, distinguished
citizen, community leader and loving husband

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee, Suffern, New York, passed on January 16, 2016,
we celebrate his extraordinary life; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee was born in Brooklyn, New York, and then moved
to Suffern, NY, with his wife, Assemblymember Ellen Jaffee, to raise
their two children Marc and Allison; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee distinguished himself in his career and by his
sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his
community; he knew how to greet people with a firm, friendly handshake,
and follow through on every promise he made; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee worked tirelessly to support organizations he
was passionate about including being a longtime Democratic Committee
member, a former chair of the Suffern Democratic Committee, a Little
League coach, and various other organizations and clubs that supported
his community; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee was a passionate supporter of progressive causes
and a welcomed presence and volunteer in the New York State Legislature
alongside his wife, Assemblymember Ellen Jaffee; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee was a man of honor without compromise; and
WHEREAS, Steve Jaffee was the kind of man who inspired many; his kind-
ness, compassion, enthusiasm and love for his family are the qualities
he will be remembered for; this dignified man lived a virtuous life and
was a true man of his word; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his loving wife, Steve Jaffee is survived by
his son, Marc (Julia); and his daughter, Allison (Steve); his three
grandchildren, Miles, Jade, and Daniel; his sister Roberta; and his
brother Jerry (Janet); as well as his brother-in-law Kenny (Maryelena);
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a sense of compassion, Steve Jaffee leaves behind
a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a
comforting memory to all he befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Steve Jaffee, distinguished citizen, community leader
and loving husband; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Steve Jaffee.
