LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stuyvesant Plaza upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Friend of the Legal Project Award by
the Legal Project

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, and enduring commitment to the commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stuyvesant Plaza upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Friend of the Legal Project Award by the Legal Project celebrated at
its Pro Bono Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the
Century House in Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Friend of the Legal Project Award honors an individual,
non-profit or small business which has gone beyond the call of duty to
provide support or services which assist the Legal Project in helping
people in need; and
WHEREAS, Opened in 1959, Stuyvesant Plaza is an open-air shopping
center, comprised of 58 retail spaces and eateries; and
WHEREAS, Located in Guilderland, New York, Stuyvesant Plaza attracts a
combination of national tenants, regional chains, franchises and inde-
pendent operators; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Stuyvesant Plaza received two community
beautification awards from the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce including
Best Renovation and Best Overall; and
WHEREAS, Widely admired throughout the Capital Region, Stuyvesant
Plaza has been consistently voted a top three Best Shopping Mall by
multiple publications such as the TIMES UNION, METROLAND and CAPITAL
REGION MAGAZINE; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to its community, Stuyvesant Plaza is widely known
for its contributions to many charitable and non-profit community groups
including the Legal Project, which it has supported for over 15 years;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those busi-
nesses which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stuyvesant Plaza upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the Friend of the Legal Project Award by the Legal Project; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stuyvesant Plaza.
