achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 25th Anniversary of the Tri-Main Center in Buffalo, New York;
WHEREAS, Tri-Main Center is one of Buffalo's leading mixed-use office,
studio and light industrial facilities; organized in the early 1990s by
visionary partners looking for an adaptable incubator for all types of
businesses and organizations such as photography, design companies,
small manufacturing firms, and arts groups, it has grown to become a
genuine catalyst between culture and development in Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, In 1915, the 650,000-square-foot Tri-Main Center building was
constructed as a manufacturing center for Model T Fords, a thriving
business in Buffalo through the early 1930s; later, its workers manufac-
tured Trico-brand windshield wipers, and during World War II, the facto-
ry produced America's first jets; and
WHEREAS, After several decades of various industrial uses and a period
of decline, Tri-Main Center has become the first large-scale rehabili-
tation of a vacant industrial complex, and has been at the forefront of
the Buffalo resurgence; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President, Matt Wolfe, Tri-
Main Center's tenants enjoy an environment which preserves the
building's unique history and architecture while providing the opportu-
nity to create a space fitting their specific business needs; its occu-
pants represent over 80 entities, including architecture firms, artists,
galleries, educational institutions, health care, human services, and
manufacturers, representing a unique blend of creativity and entrepren-
eurship; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, the continued presence of Buffalo Arts Studio
as an anchor tenant has been a testament to the importance of the arts
as a vibrant stimulus for broader economic development in Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Buffalo Arts Studio is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of
the redeveloped space with a trio of exhibitions reflecting on the
former Ford and Trico plant's rich history and capturing the elegance
and simplicity of architect Albert Kahn's steel design; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Tri-Main Center upon the occasion of its 25th Anniversary;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Matt Wolfe, President, Tri-Main Center.
