LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rita Cao-Garcia for special recogni-
tion for her achievements as Project Leader for Community Art at the
Troy City School District Alternative Learning Program by the YWCA of
the Greater Capital Region, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their educa-
tional endeavors, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Rita Cao-Garcia for special recognition for her achievements as Project
Leader for Community Art at the Troy City School District Alternative
Learning Program by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc., cele-
brated at its Resourceful Women's Awards Luncheon, held at the Troy
Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, New York, on Wednesday, September 30, 2015;
and
WHEREAS, The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. was created with
the intention of being a safe place for women to launch a new start;
through their continued determination, the YWCA is able to assist these
women in reaching their goals and being able to maintain self-sufficien-
cy; and
WHEREAS, The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. works every day
to live up to their mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and
promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all; and
WHEREAS, The first YWCA was founded in 1855, and since that time, the
organization has grown to over 25 million members in 122 countries; in
the United States alone, the YWCA has over 2 million members and 300
local associations; and
WHEREAS, Since 2000, the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. has
held an award ceremony to honor individuals whose community and profes-
sional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, and whose spirit of
determination defines the women of the YWCA; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize Rita Cao-Garcia,
Project Leader for Community Art at the Troy City School District Alter-
native Learning Program, for her commitment and contributions to the
Greater Capital Region and to its quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Rita Cao-Garcia has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those individ-
uals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rita Cao-Garcia for special recognition for her achievements as
Project Leader for Community Art at the Troy City School District Alter-
native Learning Program; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rita Cao-Garcia.
