LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Yvonne Prescott upon the occasion of her
designation for her Special Recognition Award by the Flora E. Kippins
Foundation, Inc., on September 19, 2015

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Prescott has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Yvonne Pres-
cott upon the occasion of her designation for her Special Recognition
Award by the Flora E. Kippins Foundation, Inc., celebrated at its Second
Annual Gala on September 19, 2015, at the Desmond Americana in Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Prescott has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors; she has
achieved incredible success as a fundraiser and as an envoy to children
and families in the United States and abroad and has always given of
herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In 1981, Yvonne Prescott immigrated to the United States from
Guyana, South America, with her husband and two children; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Prescott is very active in the local community and has
stood out for her fundraising and volunteer efforts; over the course of
13 years, she has helped raise funds to benefit Hospice Services and its
special programs; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Yvonne Prescott has donated her time to many
deserving organizations, such as Christian Brothers Academy in Albany,
New York, where she has helped raise funds to benefit their scholarship
program; she has planned her next fundraising endeavor to benefit the
Parkinson's Walk/Run; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Prescott attended Maria College where she obtained her
Certification in Bereavement Studies in 2007; she uses her expertise to
assist parishioners of the Black Catholic Apostolate and Saint Joan of
Arc Church in Rensselaer, New York, with managing their grief due to a
loss; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Prescott enjoys spending her time as a member of the
Sunshine Girls singing group and is an established Senior Cartographic
Draughtsman; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Ronald, her two
children, Sharon and Ronald, as well as three grandsons, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Yvonne Prescott has displayed throughout
her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yvonne Prescott upon the occasion of her designation for her
Special Recognition Award by the Flora E. Kippins Foundation, Inc., on
September 19, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Yvonne Prescott.
