LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Gregg Knight upon the occasion of
his induction into the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Hall of
Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Gregg Knight of Merrick, New York, upon the occasion of his
induction into the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Hall of
Fame in December of 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) exists
to promote and enhance the game of soccer for the youth of Eastern New
York, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches
and administrators; and
WHEREAS, All levels of soccer are offered for the recreational player
who is out to enjoy the game and just have fun, the club or travel team
player who enjoys the spirit of competition, and the premier player who
is looking to play at the highest levels; and
WHEREAS, ENYYSA is comprised of more than 120,000 players and more
than 25,000 volunteers; members are affiliated with 10 leagues through-
out the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of
Route 81; and
WHEREAS, While ENYYSA member leagues administer their own local
programs, the leagues also take advantage of the assistance provided by
this vital association to develop and educate their coaches and players,
to provide insurance coverage for their participants, and for adminis-
trative assistance; and
WHEREAS, ENYYSA is responsible for several programs including its
annual State Cup competitions to decide the state champion teams within
each competitive soccer age group; the winners of the Cup competition
tournament go on to compete at the Regional competition and eventually
to the United States Youth Soccer National Championships; and
WHEREAS, In addition, ENYYSA administers the state association's Olym-
pic Development Program where potential National Team members and Olym-
pic hopefuls can be identified and developed to their fullest potential;
and
WHEREAS, With a strong commitment to coaching, player and referee
development, ENYYSA also offers several coaching, player and referee
clinics throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Gregg Knight provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-
athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Gregg Knight has been a true inspiration to the youth of the
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association, as well as to the community-
at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Gregg Knight upon the occasion of his induction into the
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Hall of Fame; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gregg Knight.
