LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union
Free School District Community and Continuing Education Department upon
the occasion of its designation as recipient of a 2016 Faves Award by
FOREVER YOUNG Magazine
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose exem-
plary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District Commu-
nity and Continuing Education Department upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of a 2016 Faves Award by FOREVER YOUNG Magazine; and
WHEREAS, FOREVER YOUNG, a division of BUFFALO SPREE, is a Western New
York magazine geared toward readers age 50 and above; this is the third
year the magazine has sponsored the FOREVER YOUNG Faves Awards to
provide a list of the best of what Western New York has to offer; and
WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda
(Ken-Ton) Union Free School District (UFSD) Community and Continuing
Education Department has won the top spot in the FOREVER YOUNG Faves
Awards; and
WHEREAS, Winners are determined by voting and Ken-Ton was voted No. 1
in the Community Education category along with the University at
Buffalo, Erie 1 BOCES and West Seneca; the Ken-Ton Community and Contin-
uing Education Department received a plaque in recognition of the
distinction and was featured in the 2015 December edition of FOREVER
YOUNG; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Berger, Director of the Ken-Ton Regional Education
Center which oversees the Community and Continuing Education programs,
described it as a robust, well-rounded program with active participation
by the community; and
WHEREAS, The Department offers courses in the fall, winter and spring
to all age groups which include drawing and painting, ACT/SAT test prep-
aration, medical secretary training, preparation for aspiring voice-over
actors and notaries public, workplace writing, dance, foreign language
study, driving, CPR/AED, child and babysitting safety, health and well-
ness, finance, sports and fitness, high school equivalency diploma and
external diploma preparation as well as dozens of additional courses
facilitated online through Ed2Go; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to salute the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District
Community and Continuing Education Department for its long history of
purposeful endeavor which has greatly benefited the community, and to
wish this worthy organization continued success in future years; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District Commu-
nity and Continuing Education Department upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of a 2016 Faves Award by FOREVER YOUNG Magazine; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nancy Berger, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School
District Community and Continuing Education Department.
